Annual Meeting

We hope you have July 16-18 marked on your calendar. Our annual meeting will be held on those days in beautiful Red Lodge, Montana.
Rock Creek Resort is tucked in a scenic canyon just below the Beartooth Pass. The property offers a health club with a heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, tennis courts, playground, volleyball, horseshoes and a catch/release fishing pond. Ample hiking and biking trails surround the resort, and there is a nearby golf course.
Red Lodge is 60 miles south of Billings, Montana on Highway 212. Highway 212 leaves Red Lodge and climbs to the Beartooth Pass at 11,000 feet and plummets down to the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park, 65 miles from Rock Creek Resort. The Beartooth Highway (U.S. 212) is a National Scenic Byway, and has been described as “the most beautiful roadway in America.”
You can check out the resort yourself online at www.rockcreekresort.com. We are still working on the agenda, but plan to kick off the annual meeting with a welcoming reception on Wednesday evening. Our meeting wraps up on Friday so that those who want to visit Yellowstone as they make their way home can do so.
As always, we want to provide you with an in-depth update during our meeting on Mountain States Lamb Cooperative and Mountain States Rosen activities during this past year and plans for the future. We also strive to present educational information, which will help you improve the profitability of your organization. Most importantly, there will be plenty of time to interact with fellow producers, and the Co-op board and staff.
We will send out a registration packet a little later, but you can get room reservations made today. There are a variety of room options available for $100 per night double occupancy. After 6/15/08, our block of rooms will be released and there will be no guarantee that any rooms will be available. You can reach the Rock Creek Resort at

Consumer Feedback
The American Lamb Board received the following from a customer who had purchased our natural lamb sold under the Wild Harvest label……
“This last weekend I purchased lamb from the Albertsons store in Milwaukie, Oregon. It was the best lamb I have ever eaten….I try to buy only US products and so do not buy New Zealand lamb. I am very happy to know I can get high quality lamb to serve at my home….Please tell them how pleased I am with their product.”
In an upcoming newsletter we will give you details on an exciting new kitchen ready line of products MSR has recently launched.

Bid Option
Just a reminder that the option to bid your lambs to MSR is still open. If you are interested in doing this and have questions about the process, please call the office.

Board Elections
Board elections are coming up again. Nomination forms will be sent out during April.
This year the two at-large seats are up for election. Currently, these positions are filled by Mark Wahl, Albany, OR and Frank Moore, Douglas, WY.

Delivery Shares
We continue to see interest from within the Co-op and in the lamb industry in MSLC shares. If you are interested in buying or selling shares or know of a producer who is interested in joining the Co-op, please contact the office. We maintain a list of shares for sale and send it on request to interested parties.
